Design Reports

All design reports are accessed from the Reports drop-down on the Design Dialog.

Design Check dialog

Selecting any of the six items will launch the LEAP Bridge Steel report generator. Once inside the report generator Select the Member Group (Group:), Member (or members) to be reported (Member:), the Load Combination (Combination: ) and the Report Type (Reports: ) from the drop down boxes in the upper left corner of the report generator window

Based on the Combination (or combinations) selected, different reports can be selected. For Example, if only a combination for Strength is selected:

Then only reports related to strength can be selected. A valid report selection for a Strength combination is shown below:

Section Properties, Section Limits, Factored Forces, Factored Stresses and Intermediate Value reports can be selected at any time.

A summary of basic content for each report type is listed below:

Design Report Conventions:

Generally, design reports are organized by Article, Equation, Parameter, Value, Performance Ratio and Result with headings as shown below.

Article is the AASHTO Article being reported.

Equation is the specific equation being checked.

Parameter will list key variables in the equation.

Value will report the result for the Parameter.

Performance Ratio will report, where applicable, the ratio of demand to resistance for the equation. Performance ratios greater than 1.0 are failing as applicable.

Result will contain different information depending on the context of what is being checked. For example, checking equation 6.10.2.1.1-1 as shown below results in True since it is a compactness condition. The reporting for equation 6.10.7.1.1-1 will be Pass/Fail since it is a passage qualification for Article 6.10.7.1.

In cases where a report item is not relevant for particular instance “---“ will appear in the report. If there is no data to be reported the field will be blank.
